Safe keeping of Wills
Where do you keep yours?
Traditionally many solicitors around the country have a large number of deposited Wills in their will deposit banks. The costs for the service vary and many clients incur an annual or monthly charge for the service.
An alternative is which has been around for a long time is to deposit the Will in one of the Probate Registries around the country. The benefit being that there is a one off charge for storage and there is no charge for retrieval.
Some clients prefer to keep the Will at home and while it is upto the client, the risk of tampering and meddling with the document are potentially there and since none of us is a fortune teller, todays tamper is tomorrows contested Will ( plus great legal expense bonus ).
Ask your solicitor about your options and decided what is best for you and your loved ones after you have gone by spending small fee now saving tens of thousands of pounds later.
